martyc35 10/23/11 03:11 pm Lineatus has fallen and hurt her foot (among other sensitive parts), so no Dawn Chorus today, but here's a nice diary with another diary linked inside, celebrating the birds and beauty around Whidbey Island and Port Townsend, areas I know you love, Pam. Others would love to go there, I'm sure. Lefty Coaster lives there and brings you his experiences:

Pam 10/23/11 05:29 pm Thanks Marty - a beautiful area and Port Townsend is a really great little town with lots of interesting shops and historic buildings. We went whale watching from there to the San Juan islands and that was a memorable trip. If we go to Vancouver Is. we usually try and call in at Port Townsend. Plenty of driftwood on the beaches around there for making those natural perches for birds and wow....what a fantastic lighthouse !
martyc35 10/23/11 06:32 pm I had an uncle from Denmark who lived in Port Angeles, just west of Townsend, during WWII. He visited us often in Portland. I imagine some history lingers, but a lot has changed since then. Beautiful country, no matter what.

Celeste 10/24/11 04:14 pm Very interesting, followed some of the links, in particular the eagle who was shot and left to die. Once again "speechless".
