Celeste 01/01/12 05:15 am Thanks for posting that Tim! Yesterday I saw a small flock flying above me as I was walking in the early morning. They were low enough that I could hear their flapping wings!
Happy New Year!
Pam 01/01/12 06:09 am I would like to see one !
Shelley 01/01/12 06:26 am But where's the snow?! ;-)
Tim P 01/01/12 07:40 am was a good day birding yesterday. Ran into an old friend I first spotted in 2008.

Tim P 01/01/12 07:51 am Pam , That was only the second time I've seen a snow goose.
Shelley 01/01/12 09:20 am Yikes! How come they don't band these guys on their legs, like other birds? Around the neck seems constricting and not such a good idea...<:o

But amazing that you ID'd this same one on more than one occasion!
martyc35 01/01/12 02:16 pm I was fortunate in being able to watch a rerun of Winged Migrations a few days ago, and he had incredible footage of snow geese taking off (I guessed from Bosque del Apache in New Mexico). Here's just a flavor of the real thing: LINK
Thanks, Tim.

Kelly 01/02/12 05:45 am Well done, Tim :)

Last night I watched ep. 1 of the BBC production, "Earth Flight". Among others, there's incredible footage of Snow Geese migrating from the Gulf of Mexico to the Arctic. Here ... there are links to the other 3 parts. Enjoy!
terryo 01/02/12 10:42 am Thanks for the link Kelly, you can't beat BBC nature shows, simply stunning. Even Dr. Who was perfect as the shows narrator.
Tim P 01/02/12 08:30 pm Marty & Kelly , thanx for the links.
DaisyG 01/03/12 05:42 am Great spot Tim!
The only time I have ever seen Snow Geese were the ones at Pensthorpe NR, Norfolk, four years ago.
cathleen 01/03/12 09:04 am Just last week I saw huge flocks flying against a slate sky, white specks glistening in the sun. The formations shifted and turned above Montezuma Wildlife Refuge, just beyond a flock of Canada geese.
Awed with mouth open. Thanks for the photo and the links, guys!
