martyc35 01/01/12 04:39 pm Lineatus gives us a good birding start on the new year, and what a coincidence, pics of snow geese over at Blackwater! LINK
Enjoy, marty.
Shelley 01/01/12 06:53 pm Marty, this was wonderful! I am in awe of the *murmuration* video (the music was great, too). I received a postcard from someone in The NEtherlands that shows 6 different pics of *murmurations* and has a cut-out of a bird in the centre of the card. It's terrific.

That last story, of the owls, is also fabulous! Just wow! Thanks, as always
Trishrg 01/02/12 08:44 am Great blog.
I'm barely keeping good track of my life list, so doubt I will be starting a year list this year.
I too am listening to recordings of White-crowned sparrows recently. I did the Coastal CBC in dense fog yesterday, and was trying to brush up on my sounds ahead of time. I am also starting a sounds class this week. I am pretty excited.
And... I got one new bird on my count yesterday, a Eurasian Wigeon.
Wigeon
martyc35 01/02/12 04:15 pm That's great, Trish. Here, I thought a wigeon was one of those things that no one has a better name for, like the icons on my dashboard app (just kidding, of course), that's a widget.. Lovely coloring on that bird! Yes, Shelley, that was an astounding owl account, and to think she didn't even see it the first time she took a pic of that tree!
Happy New Year!
marty
