||Yesterday we made it to RW and saw 5R on his nest in Manton Bay. It was sunny but misty the whole day and quite cool in the Shallow Water hide but it was so good to see my first Osprey of the year. He had arrived one week earlier than last year and was busy bringing in sticks, seeing off intruders and once he was over the water, almost hovering, but no fish was caught that time. Some of the time he just sat preening on the T-bar. The photos are not marvellous but I put one or two here:

||Wonderful. Thanks for sharing Pam :)
I am so envious - Rutland Water has to be the most peaceful place, so good for the soul.

||Yesterday they had the webcam running in the Lyndon Centre but not connected to the net. I just checked and the cam is now running - a fantastic high definition clear picture of the nest.
No osprey visible as I write but the nest just shook so it could be on the perch.

||Just checked the RW news and I quote:
This afternoon 5R was joined at the Manton Bay nest by 00(09), a three year-old female who fledged from Site B in 2009. She is incredibly early-arriving for such a young bird, but made her intentions clear from the off; within minutes of landing on the nest she was food-begging! 5R duly presented her with a fish and they spent the rest of the afternoon together
....so now we know !
