Name Date Message
Peter 04/05/12 03:50 pm Just flew in as I was watching.

Hellgate 2012

Is this early?
Peter 04/05/12 05:13 pm Dunrovin' two.
terryo 04/06/12 11:24 am I imagine the Dunrovin birds are wishing they had stayed in South America a few days longer lol. They look cold as a result of the snow, wind etc.
Peter 04/06/12 11:38 am Yes, and more snow:

Dunrovin

I am not sure these Montana birds go to South America, do they?

From a link I found on the Dunrovin FaceBook page, the birds from Jackson Hole WY go to Cuba.

Jackson Hole to Cuba

I recall seeing a map like this on Rob's site also, but more general from a decade ago as I recall.

Still fascinating!

Is the Wyoming site which generated the map above.
martyc35 04/06/12 02:02 pm It is said that some of the ospreys on the west coast, where I am, don't go very far south at all, some into Mexico, and others right around San Diego. I don't know about those in the Rockies, though.

Trishrg 04/06/12 03:33 pm We have birds here in So Cal that stick around, but I think most birds from far northern territories do migrate to parts far south.

I would like them to flip that Hellgate cam toward the river. I would bet the birds are roosting there.
Lots of flurries flying now.
Peter 04/07/12 11:16 am One is back on the nest now. Looks like a gorgeous day in Hellgate Canyon.
