Melanie 04/13/12 01:59 pm It's being broadcast this weekend. Worth it?
Peter 04/13/12 04:06 pm Looks interesting.

Titanic

Airs Saturday and Sunday on ABC. Reviews seem to be mixed. Appears to be coming out on DVD quite soon (no commercials).

Thanks for the heads up!
Anne-UK1 04/13/12 05:20 pm It started here a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't get into it, but that may just be my lack of patience. I'm not too good when there are a lot of characters to get to know, so I didn't get past the first episode.
Melanie 04/13/12 06:46 pm I confess to getting a little "Titanic-ed out" but I might tune in for a while if for nothing else but the costumes. Edwardian and Beaux Arts are my favorite periods. I was surprised to find Linus Roche was British. I watch Law & Order all the time (a friend says I'm halfway to my JD) and never picked it up.
martyc35 04/14/12 04:56 am If you watch Mad Men, you will recognize Richard Harris's son, Jared, by his Brit dialect AND the shape of his father's head:-).

BBC radio had a feature on the other night in which they translated all the Morse Code records into voices from the Titanic incident, from the T out, and from the other ships, in. It was stirring, and so sad when the messages stopped coming from the T. BBC isn't helping me with insomnia these days.

Peter 04/15/12 10:38 am We tried to watch this last night, but between all the commercials and the script's constant reminders of the class distinctions all around, it was too much to bear. Maybe it will be easier to watch the DVD straight through when it comes out.

Makes one appreciate what a "class act" PBS and Masterpiece Theater are!
Melanie 04/15/12 11:27 am Barely made it through the first hour.
Anne-UK1 04/15/12 04:55 pm Well, I didn't want to put anyone off in case it was just me ....

but it really wasn't very good, was it.
Melanie 04/15/12 05:27 pm You're too polite, Anne. It was dreck.
Kathy 04/15/12 05:51 pm I watched for an hour and gave up.
Peter 04/15/12 09:19 pm Further OT -- So tonight we watched the first season of Downton Abbey on DVD. Great stuff!
