Thread subject: Pohtiolampi Busy Again
Name Date Message
vickinish 06/10/12 12:05 am The osprey are busy at the pond in Finland again, every few minutes you can see one dive in for dinner.

Find the cam here:

Trishrg 06/10/12 11:26 am Thanks Vicki.
It's raining there now and I've seen a Gull and a Crow so far.
Anne-UK1 06/10/12 12:45 pm I looked in earlier. My count: lots of gulls - and a persistent fly buzzing around the cam lens.

Better luck next time maybe. This pond fascinates me, it looks so small yet it's so busy. Size clearly isn't everything.
Pam 06/10/12 04:47 pm Thanks for the heads-up Vicki. I will look in tomorrow - love that webcam.
vickinish 06/10/12 11:11 pm Well for once I was the lucky one. I watched for about 15 minutes and saw osprey fishing, and I think catching as they looked like they were lifting a load as they departed. Seemed like every 3-5 minutes one came down.

I was watching during my late evening, Finland's morning time.
Pam 06/11/12 11:56 am I have been watching quite a lot today and haven't seen one dive. I'm wondering if they have had more rain. If they have then the pond may have filled up too much again, making the fish sink to the bottom out of sight and reach of the Ospreys. The bee is certainly busy.
vickinish 06/11/12 03:27 pm Me too, no dives. Guess I was lucky yesterday.
Pam 06/16/12 07:42 am Vicki, I have been watching again today and there were two deep dives, so I don't think they were gulls that tend to skim. I did not see the birds surface from the dives. Would it be possible I wonder for an Osprey to dive deep, get caught up on a fish and be unable to surface again? I hope not, but I was puzzled. They have a facebook page if you are interested and you can find that at:

I asked the above question and also posted a pic of my best capture from the cam.
