Shelley 07/22/12 07:34 pm Thanks, Marty. I was beginning to get worried about you, since I didn't see a Dawn Chorus posted here last week. You ok?

I spent much of this afternoon watching and photographing a busy momma chipping sparrow feeding a hungry and persistent baby cowbird as he chased her (baby being twice the size of Chippy) all around my yard. Very comical but you have to feel sorry for that Chippy.

This was a great diary with lots of fantastic photos!
martyc35 07/22/12 07:46 pm Hi, yes, I am okay, but still waiting for test results. Had two carotid ultrasounds and a cat scan of arteries and brain. Then I heard absolutely nothing from the doctor who rushed me through the tests. I suppose I will hear back on Tuesday or so. No recurrences of going blind in one eye, so that is good. My daughter Bonnie is here for a nice cool visit away from MD, and we have mututal interests in sports (Olympics, etc.) and European murder mystery videos to keep us busy. I didn't post the D C last week because it was mostly discussion of what to do while Lineatus takes a break from birding diaries to attend to some business or family needs. They all jumped in to sub for her, so we will have Dawn Chorus for now, anyway.
Glad you enjoyed the diary and photos. I hate it when the tiny birds get co-opted by the cowbird giants. What a weird fluke of nature.
Best to you.

Trishrg 07/22/12 10:07 pm Interesting blog today. I hope they can preserve the Jay habitat before it has to be listed. Sheesh. Do we have to build everywhere???
Celeste 07/23/12 05:13 am Thanks Marty, and hope all goes well with you.
Anne-UK1 07/24/12 05:13 pm An interesting write up, thanks Marty. I hope someone steps in and stops the development before it's all gone. Why can't we leave things alone :(

Hope you're feeling better and your results come back with good news.
