Thread subject: Another Osprey Drama
Name Date Message
Tiger 09/19/12 06:19 am A big osprey drama has begun with Stan a young osprey tracked by Roy Dennis. He is trying his best to fly toward South America.

See Flight of Stan

Trishrg 09/19/12 08:34 am Yikes! What's with the straight line, and no stopping? Well there's a real nail biter.
Tiger 09/19/12 01:32 pm The strange thing is that he seemed to stop in the Canary Islands but then flew on. He could get to the Cape Verde Islands.
Celeste 09/19/12 02:51 pm Definitely a nail biter!
martyc35 09/19/12 04:56 pm Scary.

Tiger 09/20/12 08:10 am Well no update as yet. I think that he may make it as he seems to have rested for a while in the Canary Islands.
Trishrg 09/20/12 12:13 pm He made it!!!!
Pam 09/20/12 12:36 pm Amazing !
bethohio 09/20/12 01:36 pm Yay!!
Celeste 09/20/12 02:13 pm Hooray for Stan!
Tiger 09/20/12 02:37 pm These. Let us hope he rests there a while and does not have any thoughts of flying any furher south.
Anne-UK1 09/20/12 04:44 pm Thank goodness for that. I too hope he doesn't keep going in the same direction as the last few days. Having said that, I've checked google earth and it looks like it's around 1500 miles to South America so, if he does set off again, it's possible he could make it that far so long as he rests and feeds long enough to get his strength back first.

Marty sums it up for me - scary! Please stay where you are Stan.
DaisyG 09/20/12 07:12 pm Looks a great place for an osprey so hope he stays put for a while.
