Thread subject: A "Different" News Day! :-)

Celeste 05/18/13 04:42 am Came across the following 2 articles this morning.

BaldEagles

And this one rings a bell, but it says it happened recently....

RTH
Shelley 05/18/13 07:02 am I also read the article about the eagles, though I have to tell you, I still think the RTH one has to be a photoshop job. I just find the whole premise of the *piggy-backing* a ride to be a bit hard to swallow...
Melanie 05/19/13 02:31 pm I can believe it - we've seen RWBB harass ospreys on the nest and I have screen captures of them sitting on osprey tails. RWBB and mockingbirds are two species that I would not want to pose a threat to during nesting season. They can be ferocious.
Tim P 05/19/13 06:04 pm Eagles reported in Brookhaven. A pair has built a nest. The current thought is the female is immature. The nest is in wertheim refuge. They have closed a trail to avoid disturbing the birds. My research is that bald eagles haven't nested on Long Island since the 1930"s
Celeste 05/19/13 06:22 pm Good News and also glad that they closed the trail!
Nancy L 05/20/13 02:32 pm Tim - which trail is closed? The new one on the east side?
Anne-UK1 05/20/13 05:27 pm Amazing that both those eagles survived. It's probably surprising this sort of thing doesn't happen more often. Or maybe it does and we just don't hear about it.
Tim P 05/20/13 06:24 pm I think they call it , The white oak trail nancy.
