Thread subject: Osprey on the Woods Hole cam
Name Date Message
Pam 06/09/13 08:58 am There is a beautiful Osprey there this a.m. and some evidence of nest building. I think this maybe a female we have seen before because she has a very distinctive head marking which I always thought looked like a vogue model in a wide skirted calf-length dress :-)) Anyway, great to see some activity there. I will put a pic on my Flickr page.

Shelley 06/09/13 10:33 am Oh! I really hope so! This always seems to me to be such a great nest. I always wondered why it isn't more popular than it is! Thanks for this, Pam. Because is is so empty, I often forget to check.

No one there now, though. :-(

Wouldn't it be rather a bit late to be *starting* a nest, at this point? I wonder about that...
Anne-UK1 06/09/13 03:48 pm It does seem too late for this year. But at least someone is taking a look at the platform. Pam, I agree with you that those gaps don't look too great but I suppose enough sticks added would solve the problem. Maybe it's to discourage smaller birds from setting up home?

I look in occasionally but I don't see much change now from the last time I looked, which was a good few weeks back. I think the material that's on the base is what's been there for ages - maybe even put there by humans rather than birds.

It just seems such a shame, and quite odd, that ever since the new cam was put up there hasn't been any nesting there (apart from that first year which was in itself a bit peculiar).
