Thread subject: Hellgate - not great news

Shelley 07/22/14 06:58 pm Just saw this note on the Hellgate site, posted one hour ago:

"Just a little while ago a semi-tanker capsized and spilled industrial chemicals into the river not too far above the Hellgate nest. About 25 miles of the Clark Fork River have been closed to people, from about 10 miles upstream of the Hellgate nest to about 15 miles downstream. I am not sure what the chemicals (or how much) were that spilled into the river, nor how they might affect aquatic life and Ospreys. I will keep you posted as information comes out."

Yikes, this can't be good for osprey fishing. I know they don't read signs but seriously, I wonder if they can sense something wrong in the water and instinctively know to search elsewhere
