First, the nest in the weeping beech tree near the parking lot was NEVER used this season. It had been used for many years.
Second, we found a new nest. Wonder if those osprey just moved over there. To find it, take the main path towards the carriage house, go left & then again left onto the holly path. After you pass the weeping tree, look up at a tall tree. I forgot to determine the exact species, but I think a pine. There is a nest up at the top, with osprey on it.
The nest at the water's edge in the large field was also active this year. I think the young have fledged.
Over on Paradise Island, which is less than paradise lately, as they are not mowing the paths through the center anymore, only the main path around.........there were the usual two occupied nests on tops of trees.
Across Montauk Highway from the arboretum, at the top of the RR bridge, it looks like there are two chicks who are ready to fledge, if they haven't already.
And lastly, at the 'Oakdale Merge' nest, it also seems to be two chicks & I think one has fledged.
That's my report & I'm sticking to it.

||OH Nancy, Thank goodness you do these reports!!!! Thanks for the info! I'm anxious to see the new nests! Surprised that the one in the beech tree is not occupied, and my favorite the Chimney nest hasn't had a family now for several years. Sorry I missed this.....
