Trishrg 03/18/15 03:13 pm Just had my first look of the season on cam now.

Osprey
Anne-UK 03/18/15 05:03 pm Ooh good. More early birds. They'll be flooding in before we know it :)
Shelley 03/18/15 06:41 pm Why is the platform empty? Did they remove the nest from the previous year? I know the osprey are hardwired to rebuild but I didn't think that meant from scratch!
Nancy L 03/18/15 07:20 pm Oh, great! Thanks for posting that photo, Trish. I had been checking in, but never saw that osprey.
FOB Webmaster 03/18/15 10:15 pm Shelley: Over the winter, the eagles remove some (maybe a lot) of the sticks for their own nest and also quite a few are blown out by the wind. We even saw a Great blue heron take a stick one day, so the ospreys usually have to build the nest from scratch when they return. The good news about that is at least the chicks get a fresh nest each year. :-)
Trishrg 03/25/15 10:16 am I've been seeing one or both of the Bald Eagles hanging out on the Osprey platform. Makes me wonder if they will be a hinderance to the Osprey since they are free to roam around...
