Anne-UK 04/14/15 03:38 pm A newspaper article suggesting there may be a memorial of some sort to honour Lady's long tenure. Link
Also I believe an egg may be imminent. I'm no expert but the new girl's looking a bit pre-occupied to me right now and they thought the first egg might arrive last Thursday or Friday, so it can't be far off.
Shelley 04/14/15 03:52 pm Wow, thanks for that, Anne. A remarkable story. I'm sure it has been asked before and answered, as well, but if so, I forget. If Lady is not tagged or ringed at all, how do they identify her each year and know for sure it is her?
Anne-UK 04/14/15 03:56 pm First egg just arrived!
The identify her by her markings and in particular the dots in her iris. They've been watching her for so many years I would imagine she's pretty unmistakeable to them.
Anne-UK 04/14/15 04:05 pm She doesn't seem to quite know what she's supposed to do now. Picking around in the nest bowl, but standing over the egg rather than settling down to keep it warm. She knows how to curl her talons though, so that's a start. I don't suppose they do books for ospreys on being a mum. Hopefully she'll figure it out soon.

Anne-UK 04/18/15 04:31 pm 2 each at Rutland and LotL. 1 at Loch Garten. Just waiting for Dyfi now.
Trishrg 04/18/15 08:48 pm Excellent!
