Thread subject: Not so lucky at Hellgate
Name Date Message
Shelley 06/01/15 03:40 pm Apparently, one egg was lost in the hailstorm last night and later ejected by Iris (mom), while a second was damaged but remains. The third seems ok, as far as anyone can tell.

Hellgate update

:-( I hope the rest goes ok
Anne-UK 06/01/15 04:22 pm Oh that's sad. Bad weather over here today too. At both Rutland and Dyfi currently both male and female are on their respective nests. Not sure if that's to help protect the chicks from the elements, or if the males just want some shelter from the terrible wind. Possibly a bit of both.
Trishrg 06/01/15 04:22 pm Nature at its finest. Wow.
Tiger 06/02/15 09:27 am The egg that is damaged has a hole in it and also two serious cracks.
Tiger 06/02/15 09:29 am The earliest one could expect a hatching at Hellgate is Saturday 6th June.

See Hellgate countdown clock
Trishrg 06/02/15 02:55 pm Love the countdown clock.
Very creative, and handy too :-)
Trishrg 06/02/15 06:15 pm They posted that the 2nd egg is lost and the third looks to be cracked as well. Bummer.
Shelley 06/02/15 06:21 pm I was just going to report that:

update

So sad. :-(
Shelley 06/03/15 06:27 pm Sadly, it was reported today that the third egg is also gone. Such a tragedy, so close to hatching.
Anne-UK 06/04/15 04:39 pm I watched the news report. Such bad luck that the hail storm arrived right on the point where they were changing over incubating duty. Nature has to find its own balance I guess :(
