Thread subject: Wertheim leaning nest
Name Date Message
Matt 05/27/19 10:01 pm Went there today, noticed the leaning nest is not there anymore. Possible tree came down. I did notice they cleared a wide path to the water in that area, but not to walk in, just took stuff down. Unsure of what this purpose was.
Matt 05/28/19 11:59 am To add to this, the so called nest with camera that they put near the visitor center has not had anything in it since it was built. Way too low in the surrounding area to attract them. They love high trees or man made nests. Only time I've seen them in very low nests is when that nest is the ONLY high structure around.
Nancy L 06/01/19 09:59 am Thanks for keeping us up-dated. I haven't been on the original trails since they made the new center. Of course, you're correct that the osprey want the highest nest possible.
Matt 06/04/19 01:21 pm The new trail is nice, but I prefer the old trail that goes against the water. More access to the river and wildlife viewing.
Nancy L 06/06/19 12:01 pm But you can't drive around by the RR bridge & park, right? Do you walk all the way around from the Center?
Matt 06/19/19 01:33 pm If you have the handicapped parking thing to put on your rearview mirror you can drive around to the original parking lot.

Otherwise you park at the new monstrous visitors center and walk around. The new path that goes down the river on that side is not bad, but I prefer the original path on the other side of the river.
Nancy L 06/28/19 02:22 pm I don't have any handicapped sticker, & I don't want to walk around. The walk around to the old, original parking space & back would be enough walking for me!
